Details Mission and objectives UNFPA is the lead UN agency for delivering a world where every pregnancy is wanted every childbirth is safe and every young person s potential is fulfilled UNFPA xe2 x80 x99s strategic plan focuses on three transformative results to end preventable maternal deaths end unmet need for family planning and end gender-based violence and harmful practices UNFPA has been operating in India since 1974 Context The India Country Office is now in its 10th Country Programme CP-10 CP-10 envisions an India where every woman and young person including those from the most vulnerable groups enjoys gender equality fully realizes sexual and reproductive health and reproductive rights and fully contributes to sustainable development Guided by the new UNFPA Strategic Plan 2022-2025 the Programme of Action of the International Conference on Population and Development ICPD and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development the new country programme will galvanize efforts to end preventable maternal deaths unmet need for family planning and gender-based violence and harmful practices including in humanitarian situations The country programme was developed in consultation with national and State governments civil society United Nations organizations and other stakeholders including women and youth-led organizations based on the principles of inclusion human rights and gender equality In this context the UNV Communications Associate will play an active role in xe2 x97 x8f Communicating with impact and increasing the visibility of UNFPA programmes and advocacy interventions xe2 x97 x8f Providing support in developing knowledge products with the technical and programme team xe2 x97 x8f Documenting programmatic interventions for advocacy and outreach The UNV Communications Associate will be a part of an exciting and dynamic team with opportunities to learn contribute and co-create solutions which have lasting impact Task description As part of the UNFPA State Office and under the direct supervision of the Head of State and under technical oversight and coordination with the Communications and Media units at UNFPA Country Office the UNV Communications Associate will be responsible for undertaking the following activities xe2 x97 x8f Support in the execution of state specific communications and media strategy and plan xe2 x97 x8f Draft and design programmatic communications products such as leaflets facts sheets posters powerpoint presentations xe2 x97 x8f Support in drafting and editing talking points remarks speeches press release and briefing notes for meetings events xe2 x97 x8f Draft edit and produce programmatic success stories human interest stories testimonials for reports and external communications xe2 x97 x8f Coordinate with Implementing Partners Vendors to execute programme communications products such as case studies photo and video documentation etc xe2 x97 x8f Support the team with curation and coordination of events campaigns and workshops xe2 x97 x8f Provide inputs in finalizing the communication materials on various thematic areas toolkits manuals BCC modules developed in support with implementing partners xe2 x97 x8f Develop databases of the media personnel media institutions and media houses for facilitating effective engagement with them xe2 x97 x8f Maintain database and repositories of communication assets materials photo videos xe2 x80 x93 with thematic categorization proper referencing xe2 x97 x8f Coordinate with the Communications and Media unit to highlight programmatic impact interventions events on social media xe2 x97 x8f Perform any other duties as requested by the State Head Furthermore UN Volunteers are encouraged to integrate the UN Volunteers programme mandate within their assignment and promote voluntary action through engagement with communities in the course of their work As such UN Volunteers should dedicate a part of their working time to some of the following suggested activities Strengthen their knowledge and understanding of the concept of volunteerism by reading relevant UNV and external publications and take active part in UNV activities for instance in events that mark International Volunteer Day Be acquainted with and build on traditional and or local forms of volunteerism in the host state Provide annual and end of assignment self-reports on UN Volunteer actions results and opportunities Contribute articles write-ups on field experiences and submit them for UNV publications websites newsletters press releases etc Assist with the UNV Buddy Programme for newly-arrived UN Volunteers Promote or advise local groups in the use of online volunteering or encourage relevant local individuals and organizations to use the UNV Online Volunteering service whenever technically possible Requirements communications and media Candidates from journalism not for profit sector communications agencies will be preferred xe2 x97 x8f Demonstrated understanding of design tools and softwares Canva is desirable Adobe design suite will be an added advantage xe2 x97 x8f Possess experience of handling assignments related to photo and video documentation Basic to intermediate skills in photography and video editing skills will be an asset xe2 x97 x8f Experience in developing content for social media platforms xe2 x97 x8f Ability to Living conditions are normal with basic amenities and comfort of livelihood available As this is a national UN Volunteer assignment the UN Volunteer will be responsible for arranging his her own housing and other living essentials This positions are based in Patna Jaipur and Bhopal National UN Volunteers are part of the malicious insurance plan National UN Volunteers are expected to be culturally sensitive and adjust to the prevailing culture and traditions The contract lasts for the period indicated above with possibility of extensions subject to availability of funding operational necessity and satisfactory performance However there is no expectation of renewal of the assignment The applicable Volunteer Living Allowance is provided monthly to cover housing utilities and normal
