Role Description

Responsible & Accountable for achieving goals & targets of MEG Design on Design and Development of machine component drawings of normal and critical spares for indigenous manufacture at TSL to reduce cost of OEM supplied spares in specific area of Mechanical Maintenance. Responsible for executing design for Salvaging and life cycle enhancement of high value components and sub-assemblies of plant equipment through appropriate design solutions. Responsible for design & engineering of systems, equipment to improve MTTR, MTBF, Safety and Productivity. Provide all technical clarification in drawings during manufacturing and installation. Work and drive major design projects from concept to release of manufacturing drawings through use of internal resources and vendor. In addition also responsible for driving Excellence in Execution,TQM and safety for the Section

Skills

Must have good communication skills and should possess good technical report writing and presentation skills with hands on experience of use of Microsoft applications (Power point, Word, Excel)

Should be capable of leading and mentoring a team of draftsman

Should be in a position to work in a team and collaborate with other stakeholders effectively

Technical competency in

Machine design with knowledge of Stress and Strain, failure analysis and fatigue life calculation

Good knowledge of GD & T and tolerance stack up analysis

Manual Design Calculations

Material selection and Heat Treatment processes

Knowledge of manufacturing processes

Knowledge of weld design

Antifriction and journal bearing application and selection

Good knowledge of power transmission element design and calculations (Shaft, Gear drives, Chain drive, Coupling etc)

Hands on experience of Use of 2D and 3D CAD packages- AutoCAD, CREO (PRO-E) / Autodesk Inventor, with basic knowledge of mechanism design

Basic knowledge and hands on experience of FEA using ANSYS (for static and vibration analysis of machines/ structures) and Kisssoft (design and analysis of machine elements, power transmission systems)

Basic knowledge and hands on experience of CFD using ANSYS Fluent /CFX

Basic knowledge of industrial piping design

Understanding of design codes and standards (IS, BS, DIN, AGMA, ASTM, ASME)

knowledge of design & engineering of bulk material handling system and equipment

Understanding of design philosophy and fundamentals machine structures subjected to static and dynamic loads

Knowledge of design of tools & tackles for mechanical handling to reduce man machine interface and improve handling safety
