The Context / Purpose of the Job

Engineering Project Group headed by Chief-Engineering is being set up within the Engineering & Projects Division to provide with Multi-disciplinary Engineering support for all new Greenfield as well as Brownfield projects. Primarily the group will take care of the overall management of the engineering function including the DECs( Detailed engineering consultants) for outsourced activity and ensure timely delivery of quality engineering deliverables to project sites.

This position will play a key role in project execution as well as continuous development of capability within the discipline.

>. Clear understanding of Structural Engineering standards, practices, design criteria, calculations etc.

>. Knowldge of applicable codes and standards

>. Technical expertise in industrial design practices

• Promote and Participate in development of discipline design criteria and standards.
• Develop IDC procedure and other cross functional practices.

>. Champion development of software knowledge across the entire discipline.

>. Thorough Knowledge of relevant engineering software like Staad-Pro & drafting software like Autocad

>. Competence in managing projects using 3D plant suite and ability to conduct/participate in 3D design reviews.

• To keep abreast with industry development and explore new approaches in design and engineering
• Promote Safety in design in line with Tata Steel standards.
• Shall promote teamwork and support new joinees /Jr. Engineers in project work.
• Drive value engineering exercise in projects.

Skills

Technical Competencies

• Ability to develop general arrangement of structure from assignment.
• Ability to do Analysis and Design of the structure followed by design and shop fabrication drawing delivery.
• Ability to do 3-D analysis and design.
• 3-D model review.
• Clear understanding of structural Bill of Material preparation.
• Ability to guide junior engineer to develop the design skill and development of structural arrangement.

Relevant design experience in Structural work for Industrial Building Structure in Steel Plant, Power Plant, Chemical Plant, Raw material handling plant etc.
