Technician -Metrology & Metallurgy
We need technician who is capable of handling the following instruments/ machines .
Ultra sound Testing – ASNT Level -2
Magnetic Particle Testing – ASNT Level -2
Dye penetrant Testing – ASNT Level -2
Universal Tensile Testing
Spectrometer
Polishing Machine
Portable Hardness Tester
Surface Roughness Tester
Coordinate Measuring Machine
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Perform metallurgical testing on metals and alloys to determine physical and mechanical properties
- Select and prepare samples for testing, using a variety of methods such as sawing, grinding, or polishing
- Operate specialized equipment and machinery to conduct tests, including hardness testers, microscopes, and x-ray machines
- Record data from tests and observations, performing calculations as necessary to generate reports
- Analyze test results to identify trends or anomalies, and recommend solutions or process improvements
- Assist in the development of new testing methods or the modification of existing ones
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all tests conducted
- Adhere to safety protocols when handling dangerous chemicals and materials
- Keep abreast of new developments in the field of metallurgy, and attend conferences and seminars as necessary
- Train new technicians on proper testing procedures
- Collaborate with engineers and other professionals to troubleshoot problems
- Perform regular maintenance on testing equipment
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in metallurgy, engineering, or related field
- 3-5 years experience working in a laboratory setting
- Experience with more specialized laboratory equipment, such as X-ray diffractometers and scanning electron microscopes
- Experience with common laboratory equipment, including Microscopes, Spectrometers, Portable Hardness Tester Surface Roughness Tester, etc.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
