SECTION 1: JOB SUMMARY*

The Staff Automation Engineer is responsible to execute the maintenance strategies and objectives at ETHICON, Aurangabad site to ensure enhanced reliability, safety, material flow, reduced operational costs and consistent quality of products. Provides leadership to the maintenance engineers, executive engineers and maintenance technicians and ensures the support from maintenance functions for executions for automation & improvement projects as well supporting day to day operations.

SECTION 2: DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES*

Under limited supervision & general direction and in accordance with all applicable federal, state and local laws/ regulations and Corporate Johnson & Johnson, procedures and guidelines, this position:

2.1. Maintenance Operations:

2.1.1 Work with the Manufacturing Engineering Manager and engineering team to develop and implement robust processes for maintenance and reliability of manufacturing equipment. Engages in execution of engineering maintenance program designed to ensure uninterrupted production consistent with established standards.

2.1.2 Understand site strategies and expectations and translate them into sustainable maintenance solutions as part of a site/platform master plan to meet engineering objective & strategies.

2.1.3 Support (Planning, execution & reporting) for calibration & Preventive Maintenance & Stamping of weights without any deviation.

2.1.4 Lead the shift / maintenance related activities of the Maintenance Department to support the manufacturing and represent engineering function to provide technical support and information to production.

2.1.5 Develop skills in troubleshooting, set up, adjustment, repair and maintaining manufacturing equipment, and able to guide and train the technician about the same.

2.1.6 Implement standardized operating processes, procedures, and practices for the maintenance team. Responsible for revision / creation of documents like SOP, forms etc.

2.1.7 Be able to make decisions and provide directions & lead the resolution of technical and operational issues & ensure the functionality & the proper maintenance of all equipment in accordance with GMP in manufacturing operations to ensure uninterrupted service and minimal equipment downtime.

2.1.8 Connect with equipment & tooling suppliers to deliver innovative solutions & Designing, developing & analyzing all critical tooling used in the plant.

2.1.9 Prioritize, assign, and coordinate work performed by maintenance associates. communicate & review plans (scope, cost, schedule, resource requirements & risks) for maintenance activity execution.

2.1.10 Actively participate in planning and handling of maintenance (man, spares and schedule) to deliver quality assured output by monitoring, controlling and improving downtime and technical efficiencies. Responsible for maintaining spares required for manufacturing equipment and ordering with help of Stores as and when required.

2.1.11 Erection, commissioning and maintenance of manufacturing and process machinery.

2.1.12 Responsible for procurement and assessment of engineering spares from approved source.

2.1.13 Assists in engineering budget preparation, expense tracking and expense control.

2.1.14 Responsible for training and development of associates for current and future responsibilities. Mentors, Coaches, Trains direct reports. Evaluate performance and provides opportunities for growth.

2.1.15 Use of eCMMS for all the Maintenance related activities to perform, plan, schedule, monitor and analyze the effectiveness of the Maintenance activities

2.1.16 Leads executive engineers & technicians for machine troubleshooting, Root Cause Analysis & implement effective countermeasures.

2.1.17 Engages in understanding and application of CFM methods and process mapping.

2.1.18 Engages in process optimization and improving overall compliance process.

2.1.19 Improve competency proficiency level to meet the Organizational requirements.

2.2. BUSINESS EXCELLENCE & CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT:

2.2.1 To improve the efficiency of Operation using Lean Principles and Process Excellence & Execute Maintenance Excellence program to ensure reliability of manufacturing equipment. Supports continuous improvement methodology like JJPS, JJOS etc.

2.3. EHS&S:

2.3.1 Lead the EHS culture within the department including meeting the EHS standards and Audit requirements & continuous mentoring/training of the associates.

2.3.2 Responsible to assure that engineering department is appropriately run in a 5S compliant, safe, clean and environmentally sound manner.

2.3.3 Interpret Company policies to associates and enforce safety regulations. Participate in improving EHS&S by coordinating the various chapters and involving on special projects as needed.

2.3.4 As IOSS area owners (if applicable) need to do following activities

2.3.4.1 Overall responsibility to implement all expectations as communicated by chapter owners

2.3.4.2 Ensure role and responsibility of individual to comply with EHSS expectation

2.3.4.3 Ensure EHSS meeting, assessments, audits in the area.

2.3.4.4 Ensure people attends EHSS TRAINING as per plan.

2.3.4.5 Guide to area members to understand the EHSS expectations and track their Guide performance on implementation.

2.3.4.6 Ensure monthly Gemba round in the area and 90% on time closer

2.4. QUALITY & COMPLIANCE:

2.4.1 Establish and manage relationships with cross functional team to ensure quality of work and compliance with all quality system requirements, company policies and regulatory guidelines.

2.4.2 Responsible for eliminating significant quality issues due to machines on shop-floor.

2.4.3 Responsible for implementing site engineering program in compliance with all applicable local, state & federal regulations and policies.

2.4.4 Participate in audits and gap assessments in support of the internal & external audit readiness.

2.4.5 Supports for NCR’s investigation / correction of process failure. Partner with operations for investigation / correction of process failure in terms of NC / CAPA. Record

2.5 GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

SECTION 3: EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION*

Master’s in Engineering with minimum 5 years of experience or Bachelor’s in Engineering with minimum 10 years of experience.
