Jan Suraaj Young Leaders Program Hiring for Associate Researcher at Bihar, India

About Job:

The JSYL Program is an exceptional experiential learning opportunity in Bihar, designed to familiarize selected young individuals with grassroots politics. It is tailored for enthusiastic young minds keen on engaging with and learning from active political movements dedicated to strengthening Indian democracy.

We are now accepting applications for the upcoming cohort of the fellowship. The chosen fellows will be entrusted with planning and executing various aspects of the Jan Suraaj Padyatra, a foot march spanning over 3,500 km across Bihar. Additionally, they will have the privilege of collaborating with Prashant Kishor, the leader of the Padyatra, and engaging in discussions about grassroots social, economic, and political issues encountered during the fellowship.

Responsibilities:

Work closely for planning and execution of Jan Suraaj Padayatra, a 3000km footmarch panning across Bihar.

Travel across multiple districts of Bihar to identify pressing household and community-level issues through focus group discussions and in-depth interviews at the panchayat level.

Analyse findings from the primary research and integrate them with rigorous secondary research to produce actionable insights.

Ideate, design, and execute various on-ground social outreach campaigns. Develop and implement innovative on-ground and digital communications strategies

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree/ Master’s Degree from Tier1/Tier 2 Institutes

Between 1-6 years of work experience

Preferred Qualifications:

Willing to relocate to Bihar and comfortable with relocating within the state frequently.

Ability to comfortably stay/live in a remote setting for a continued period.

Has the spirit to take up new challenges and work both independently and in a team as per requirement.

Prior experience in a similar role or rural setting is highly preferred.

Is in possession of a laptop.

Location: Bihar ( Across State )

Start Date: July 2023 / September 2023

Fellowship Duration: 6 months or 11 months

Stipend: Rs 50,000/month
