Job Description
- The successful candidate will play a crucial role in the delivery of high-quality care to critically ill patients in the intensive care unit (ICU)
- The Intensive Care Registrar will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive and compassionate patient care
Responsibilities:
- Patient Care:Provide direct medical care to critically ill patients in the intensive care unit
- Monitor and manage patients with complex medical conditions, including those requiring mechanical ventilation, hemodynamic support, and other advanced interventions
- Collaboration:Work closely with other members of the healthcare team, including ICU nurses, respiratory therapists, and consultants, to ensure coordinated and effective patient care
- Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and case conferences
- Documentation:Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records for all patients under care
- Document patient assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes in accordance with hospital and regulatory standards
- Education and Training:Provide guidance and supervision to junior medical staff, residents, and medical students
- Stay current with advancements in critical care medicine through continuous education and training
- Quality Improvement:Contribute to quality improvement initiatives in the ICU, participating in audits, research, and implementing evidence-based practices
- Collaborate with the quality improvement team to enhance patient outcomes and safety
- Emergency Response:Respond to emergencies within the ICU and provide immediate medical intervention as needed
- Collaborate with the rapid response team and code blue team
- Qualifications:Medical degree from an accredited institution
- Completed internship and residency in Internal Medicine or Anesthesia
- Registration with the medical board and eligibility for licensure
- Board certification or eligibility in Critical Care Medicine
- Strong clinical skills with a focus on critical care
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and high-stress environment
