We do this through well planned and comprehensive projects in Health, Education, Women Empowerment & Livelihoods and Disaster Preparedness and Response. Our overall goal is the empowerment of women and girls from poor and marginalized communities leading to improvement in their lives and livelihoods. During FY 2021-22, CARE India reached out to 84.2 million people directly through 88 programmes across 21 states.
PROJECT DETAILS
(NA if not applicable)

The eMBeD team implemented an A/B testing of the food journal between November 2021 and April 2022. The goal of the testing was to obtain feedback about the intervention designs from the intended beneficiaries and identify implementation processes and bottlenecks for a larger scale evaluation. The A/B testing findings suggest early evidence of positive impact on various aspects like prompting, reminding, and feeding diversity.

Now, the World Bank intends to conduct the study to examine the extent to which a food tracking intervention improves dietary diversity, feeding frequency, knowledge of dietary diversity, and to assess, to what extent, those changes are reflected in children’s growth outcomes.

Rational:

The food journal aims to solve a ‘food accounting’ problem by increasing the salience of dietary diversity and feeding frequency through the use of a wall-hung visual journal. As mothers track feedings, they will visually assess whether they have fed diverse diets over weeks and months. We hypothesize that these improvements in salience will improve feeding habits, leading to improved nutritional status in children.
