Position Title: Bioinformatics Specialist

Position Overview:

As a Bioinformatics Specialist, you will play a crucial role in our research endeavours by analyzing and interpreting biological data to extract meaningful insights. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work at the intersection of biology, computer science, and statistics, contributing to the development of novel therapeutics and diagnostics.

Key Responsibilities:

• Utilize bioinformatics tools and software to analyze genomic, transcriptomic, and proteomic data.
• Develop and implement algorithms for the analysis of high-throughput sequencing data.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to design experiments and develop data analysis pipelines.
• Interpret results and provide actionable recommendations to guide research and development efforts.
• Stay current with advancements in bioinformatics methodologies and technologies, and integrate them into our workflows.
• Contribute to manuscript preparation and presentation of findings at scientific conferences.

Qualifications:

• Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Biostatistics, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Proficiency in programming languages commonly used in bioinformatics such as Python, R, and/or Perl.
• Experience with bioinformatics tools and databases (e.g., NCBI, Ensembl, UCSC Genome Browser).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information clearly and effectively.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with next-generation sequencing (NGS) data analysis.
• Familiarity with machine learning and data mining techniques.
• Knowledge of molecular biology and genetics concepts.
• Previous experience in a research or industry setting is a plus.
