About the role

We are delighted to announce that we are inviting applications for the role of Territory Manager.

Based on either our Ranchi or Hyderabad site, the successful candidate will be responsible for the safe, efficient and profitable provision of explosives products and blasting services to customers in the east region of India. Directly manage site operations, customer contracts and relationships. The Territory Manager will deliver solutions to meet customer requirements and provide key demand and market feedback to the business.


What you will be doing

Operations and People Management

  • Manage operational activities at Site/s in East in line with applicable SHES policies
  • Deliver customer promise – Safety, Reliability, Quality and Technology in line with agreed contract terms
  • Develop and implement an operational improvement plan to drive productivity improvements including site(s) monthly operational Reviews, key matrix etc
  • Actively manage assets through their life cycle, including sustenance capital spend and replacement planning
  • Implement plans to ensure the maximum utilisation, availability, and security of business assets on site(s)
  • Provide demand forecasts to planning and manufacturing team
  • Coach, facilitate and develop the team
  • Ensure all staff are appropriately trained, developed, managed and supported to meet their position responsibilities.
  • Ensure that a motivated, skilled, competent and appropriately trained team is in place to deliver business needs now and into the future.
  • Ensure that succession and development plans are in place for key roles and personnel, and that performance management process are in being utilised

Commercial Management

  • Delivers revenue and EBIT targets for the region
  • Proactively manage customer relationships through to senior management on site and into Head Offices
  • Develop and drive the implementation of key account plans to retain existing business, and win new accounts (including customer BRAD meetings, technology roadmap, solutions plan etc)
  • Ensure timely response to customer needs by working closely with Orica support areas such as Supply Chain, Technical Services, SHES, HR, Customer Support & Operations Support
  • Drive contracts effectively (including variations, Rise and Fall) and drive contractual improvements
  • Work with the Credit and Collection team to ensure customers debtor compliance is aligned to contracted terms
  • Manage/support bid preparation, negotiation, and contract finalisation for site
  • Ensures CFC / CAPEX controls are in place and expenditure is in line with budgets
  • Lead and develop a culture in accordance with Orica principles.
  • Provide strategic influencing to the Indian Business as a key member of the Management Team.

What you will bring

  • Engineering Degree (Mining preferred) with minimum 10 to 15 years relevant experience post qualification
  • More than 5 years of experience in operations management within a manufacturing/technical environment, leading small to medium work groups
  • Experience in developing and maintaining customer relationships
  • Highly collaborative with the ability to engage with a diverse range of stakeholders to drive outcomes and solutions
  • Strong strategic and commercial acumen supported by sound commercial judgement
  • Strong verbal, written communication, and presentation skills
